As of 2010, the total population in Tallahassee is 181,376, which is 20.42% more than it was in 2000. The population growth is much higher than in other cities in Florida, like Sarasota (-1.51%), Tampa (10.63%), Jacksonville (11.71%), and much higher than the statewide average rate of 17.64%, and the national average rate, which is 9.71%.
